Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry white Northern beans
  • 1 c onion, diced fine
  • 2 slices bacon cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 1/4 c dark molasses
  • 1 T brown mustard
  • 2 T ketchup
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t black pepper
  • 3 c water

Step 1


Soak beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse. Place all ingredients into a slow cooker; set on low. Cook for 6 hours.

Coming up to 4th of July, so I thought I'd try these. Added 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke, some Worcestershire sauce and half a diced red pepper. Used Splenda brown sugar. Would use regular next time as it's such a small amount.
