Ingredients

  • • 1 pound (4 sticks) butter into:

  • • 5 cups flour

  • • 1 1/2 cups sugar

  • • 1 1/2 tsp. Baking powder

  • • 2 tsp. Baking soda

  • • 3/4 tsp. Salt

  • Add:

  • 4

    cups rolled oats

  • 2

    cups fruit

  • 1 1/2

    cup buttermilk (can be made by adding 1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar to plain milk to total 1 1/2 cups)

Directions

Mix all ingredients by hand – don’t knead or roll. Make into patties. Brush with egg white with 1 teaspoon water. Sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until light brown.
