Ingredients

  • 1/2 C butter, softened
  • 1 C sugar
  • 3/4 C brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 C milk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 2 Tbls orange juice (room temperature)
  • 3 C all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 1/2 C chopped fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 C walnuts
  • Frosting: (optional)
  • 1/3 C butter
  • 2 C confectioners sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 to 4 Tbls hot water

Preparation

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add milk, egg and orange juice; mix well.

Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture and mix well.

Stir in cranberries and nuts.

Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool on wire rack.

For frosting
heat the butter in a sauce pan over low heat until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes, transfer to a small bowl. Add sugar and vanilla. Beat in water 1 Tbls at a time until frosting reaches desired consistency.

Frost the cookies.
