Glazed Sweet Potatoes

I learned to make these from my mother-in-law, Maxine Gerrald. They are my all-time favorites! Thanksgiving can't be celebrated without them in our family.

Ingredients
- sweet potatoes, peeled and cut in slices
- 1/2 - 1 stick butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- pinch salt
- dash vanilla

Step 1
Melt butter in large non-stick skillet. Add sweet potatoes, sugars, water (if necessary), salt and vanilla. Cover and cook until tender, stirring occasionally (about 45 minutes).
