Ingredients

  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 quarts real half and half
  • 2 T powdered sugar
  • 1 cup brandy or rum
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Step 1

Mix egg yolks, sugar and salt in a 4 quart saucepan. Gradually stir in half and half cooking over medium heat. continue to cook and stir until mixture coats metal spoon, 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Place saucepan in cold water until custard is cool. Beat egg whites until foam. Gradually stir in powdered sugar, beating until soft peaks form. In large punch bowl, stir custard, brandy, cinnamon and nutmeg. Fold in beaten egg whites. Refrigerate t least 2 hours, no longer than 24 hours. garnish with whipped cream, if desired. Makes 12 cups.
