Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sticks(12 tbs) butter, melted, plus additional for buttering baking dish
  • 1 tbs poppy seeds
  • 1 tbs sesame seeds
  • 3/4 tsp dried minced garlic
  • 1/2 tbs dried minced onion
  • pretzel salt
  • 1 package of sweet rolls or potato rolls
  • 1 1/2 pounds of shaved rare roast beef from the deli counter, preferably a premium brand like Boars Head
  • 2 cups crispy French fried onions
  • 1 pound thin sliced sharp provolone
  • 1 cup spicy pickle rounds

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Butter the bottom of a 13x 9 inch baking dish
Stir together the melted butter, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried garlic and 1 tsp salt-(I brushed with butter and then sprinkled with mixed seasonings )
slice top half of bread from the bottom half. placed the bottom portion of rolls in the prepared dish. Layer the shaved roast beef on top, then the crispy onions, then a layer of provolone, then top with layer of pickles. Place the top section of the rolls on the sandwich stacks. Stir the spiced butter and then liberally brush over the top of the rolls until they are entirely coated. (Butter then sprinkle)

Bake, uncovered, (I covered with foil) until the cheese is melted an tops of rolls are golden brown, 15-20minutes(cover if necessary)
