Ingredients

  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 - 2 links of spicy turkey sausage or italian sausage
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 1 stalk celery, finely diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup red wine
  • 1 14oz can chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4 oz penne pasta
  • 2 TBSP grated mozzarella

Preparation

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, add ground meat, sausage, carrot, celery, onion and garlic. Cook until meat is browned and veggies are soft.

Add the wine, stirring well and cook 10 more minutes.

Add chicken broth, tomatoes, and milk and simmer uncovered over medium low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the pan.

Cook the pasta according to the package directios. Drain and top it with meat sauce. Garnish with cheese.
