Ingredients

  • PASTRY:
  • MEATBALLS
  • 1 package (1 1/2 pounds) Kirkland Signature™ organic ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • l egg
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
  • 1-2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons of dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 packages (4 sheets) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese, quartered

Preparation

Step 1


Prepare meatballs: Combine all meatball ingredients, except oil. Form into 24 equal-size balls. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute meatballs until cooked throughout, about 7 minutes, turning during cooking. Remove from pan to cool.
Prepare pastry: Place 1 sheet of puff pastry on a baking sheet. Spread 2 tablespoons mustard on pastry, then evenly space 12 meatballs on top. Top each meatball with a piece of cheese. Place a second sheet of puff pastry on top of the meatballs. Press down around each meatball. Cut a square around each. Crimp all edges. Repeat process with remaining puff pastry to make 24 total pastries. Bake according to pastry instructions. Makes 4-6 servings. Recipe created by Linda Carey, culinary specialist.
