Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c water
  • 1 c sugar
  • 4 slices lemon, plus more for garnish
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 4 cranberry-flavored or cranberry-blend tea bags
  • 2 bottles white wine
  • 1/4 c apple brandy
  • 2 apples, cored and cut into thin wedges
  • 1 c fresh cranberries

Preparation

Step 1

1. Stir together water, sugar, lemon slices, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in a 2-qt saucepan. Add tea bags and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat. Simmer, covered, 10 min. Remove from heat and let cool 1 hr. Strain, pressing lightly on lemon and the tea bags. Discard lemon, tea bags, and cloves.

2. Pour wine into a large pitcher, jar, or other container. Add tea mixture and brandy. Cover and chill at least 4 hours or overnight. Stir in apples and cranberries, then garnish with additional lemon slices. Serve cold.
