  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate (4 squares of Baker’s Unsweetened Chocolate)
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • ~For Carol Peter's Incredible Icing~
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt



Step 1

Melt together the chocolate and butter.
Add vanilla, beaten eggs, sugar and salt and mix by hand vigorously.
Add flour and mix by hand vigorously.
Grease 9 X 9 inch square or 8 X 12-inch rectangular pan
Pour mixture into pan.
Bake at 340 degrees for approximately 45 minutes.
Brownies are done when toothpick comes up clean.

In a saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, butter and milk. Stir to dissolve sugar and bring to a boil. Cook 1 minute. Add vanilla and pinch of salt. With hand mixer or by hand, beat until cool and thickened enough to spread over brownies.
