Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 cup butter milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 cup boiling water

Preparation
Step 1
preheat oven 350*
cream together butter and sugar
add eggs one at a time
Sift dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture,, alternating with buttermilk
add vanilla and food coloring then pour in boiling water all at once
stir and mix well, batter will be thin
pour into 3 greased and floured cake pans and bake 10 to 15 minutes or until done
let layers cool in pans on wire rack 15 to 20 minutes, then remove and finish cooling
frost with Seven Minute Frosting
