Perfectly Balanced Oatmeal (Mom's recipe) 0 Picture


  • 1/4 C. steel cut oats
  • 1 1/4 C. water
  • 1/8 t. salt
  • 1/2 C. 2% milk
  • 1 T. protein powder
  • 2 t. brown sugar
  • 1 t. butter



Step 1

Add oats, water and salt to a small saucepan and cook over low heat 25-30 mins. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and pour into a bowl. Add milk, protein powder, sugar and butter. Stir before serving.

Microwave method:
In a 1 qt. covered casserole dish, bring 3/4 C. water to a boil on high for 3 mins. Stir in 1/4 C. oats. Cook uncovered on high for 1 1/2 mins. Stir and cook uncovered on hight for 2 mins. Let stand a few mins. before serving.
