This is my new go to recipe for brisket, replacing Zachary’s favorite.

Ingredients

  • 7-8 pounds brisket
  • 1 bottle ketchup
  • 1 1/2 cups red wine
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1.5 tablespoons chicken base
  • 1/4 cup dehydrated onion
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 2 onions roughly chopped
  • 6 large carrots cut into chunks
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Combine ketchup, water, dehydrated onion, garlic, and chicken base and mix to combine
Slather the mixture onto brisket into every nook and cranny.
Let stand in refrigerator for 24 hours.
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees and place remaining ingredients over brisket in a tightly sealed roasting pan.
Cook 6-8 hours.
Place in refrigerator overnight to cool.
Slice brisket against grain.
Place sauce over meat. I froze it at this point. Reheat in a 350 degree oven
