Ingredients

  • 10 cups challah, in chunks
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 8 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup apples, peeled and coarsely chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9x13 pan.
Place the bread chunks in a large mixing bowl.
In another bowl, mix together evaporated milk, whole milk, half and half, eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, baking powder and salt.
Pour mixture over bread and let stand for 10 minutes
Fold in apples. Spoon into prepared pan and dust the top with a little powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until lightly golden. Mine took more than 45 minutes
