Step 1

Beat with a mixer on medium speed until pale and fluffy 4 1/2 sticks room temp unsalted butter and 1 1/2 c confectioners sugar. Reduce speed to med low and slowly add an additional 5 1/4 c confectioners sugar. Raise speed to medium high and add 1 tbsp. and 1 1/2 tsp whole milk and 1 tsp pure vanilla extract. Beat about 3 minutes and store at room temp until ready to use.
