  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tablespoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cups shortening
  • 3 1/2 cups bread flour

Step 1

Measure water and add the yeast and stir with a wooden spoon until dissolved. Set aside. Into a large mixing bowl, measure flour, sugar, salt. Stir till blended. Make a well and add eggs, shortening, and water and yeast mixture. With the dough hook on the mixer, mix until a dough is formed. Continue stirring until the dough is smooth and elasticity about 5 minutes. Transfer into a large, oiled bowl and turn. Cover and let dough double approximately one hour. Shape into rolls and put into a greased pan and let double again, approximately 30 minutes. Bake 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Butter the tops to keep crust soft.
