Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup onion (finely diced)
  • 1 TBS olive oil
  • 1 TBS molasses
  • 3/4 cup beef stock (or broth)
  • 2 TBS Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 TBS corn starch
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Step 1

Makes equivalent to 10 3/4 oz can condensed soup.

In medium saucepan, heat oil and molasses over medium heat. Saute onions in oil and molasses until soft and sticky (5-7 minutes), stirring occasionally. Whisk in beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and salt. Bring to a boil.

In a small bowl or mixing cup, dissolve corn starch into water. Whisk into boiling stock. Whisk until thickened. Remove from heat. Soup will continue to thicken as it stands.
