Ingredients

  • 2 c strawberries, chopped
  • 1 3/4 c sugar, divided
  • 3 T butter, soft
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/2 - 2/3 c milk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 c flour
  • 1 T cornstarch
  • 2/3 c boiling water

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat over 375*. Lightly spray 8 x 8 pan.
2. Rinse, hull & chop berries. Place berries in bottom of baking pan.
3. Mix together 3/4 c sugar, butter, powder & salt. Add vanilla, 1/2 c milk and 1 c flour.
4. Add more milk if needed to get batter to pourable consistency.
5. Pour batter over berries.
6. Mix 1 c sugar & 1 T cornstarch together and sprinkle over batter. Pour boiling water over top of batter.
7. Bake 35 - 40 min or until desired consistency reached. Cook on wire rack before serving 5-10 min
