  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips (6 ounces)
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

Our friend Katie Joyce shared this simple and delicious recipe she makes all year long, especially during the holidays. Katie says, "These look impressive, but they couldn't be easier, and my kids love them!"

Makes 24 large squares or 48 small triangles

Pre-heat the oven to 350°F.

Grease a 13-inch x 9-inch inch pan. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk, vanilla and salt and mix until thoroughly combined. Beat in the flour and mix until just combined.
