  • 1 rack pork baby back ribs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried leaf oregano ( I used oregano leaves )
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme ( I used ground thyme )
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon creole seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes ( I did not use this )
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon creole seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • Slow cooker

Step 1

Mix the dry rub ingredients in a small bowl, and the barbecue sauce ingredients in a small bowl, set aside.
Put the ribs on a large cutting board, flip them over so the curved side is up. Remove and discard the silver skin, I do this by getting my fingers under the edge on one side and pulling up, most of the time I can get it off in one piece. Cut the ribs into 4 even portions. So it fits nicely in the slow cooker.
Using your hands rub the dry rub on the ribs on both sides. Place the rib pieces into the slow cooker that has been sprayed with non stick cooking spray ( I used a liner ) Take half of the barbecue sauce and spread over the ribs ( being careful not to contaminate the rest of the sauce with the raw meat as it will be used for basting while you eat the ribs )
Add the 1/2 cup water around the ribs.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours with out opening the lid during cooking time. Brush the remaining sauce on the ribs as desired
