Quick Black Forest Torte

Ingredients

• Devil's Food Cake Mix ~ NOTE You can use any kind of flavored cake mix for this.
• 4 cups Mini Marshmallows.
• 1 can Cherry Pie Filling * I used 1 (14.4 oz) jar Cherry Fruit Toppers (i found by the cake mixes.)
• 1 (16 oz) container of Classic Chocolate Frosting ~ NOTE You can use any kind of frosting for this or you can just use a large container of Cool Whip or 2 cups of Whipping Cream.
• 1 (10 oz) jar Maraschino Cherries for topping.
• Whipping Cream for topping.

Preparation

Step 1

1. Pour 4 cups of mini-marshmallows into a greased 9 by 13 inch cake pan.
2. Prepare chocolate cake mix according to directions on box - NOTE ~ For a richer cake, use milk instead of water, melted butter instead of oil and double it. Also 2 extra eggs added to what the box says. Pour the mixture over the mini-marshmallows.
3. Spoon cherry pie filling or cherry fruit toppers evenly over cake mixture.Bake in a preheated oven on 350 degrees for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
4. Cool.
* Top with whipped topping. If using whipping cream, whip 2 cups of cream with 3 tablespoons sugar and 3 teaspoons vanilla until almost ready to form peaks.
