I made this recipe with thick cut pork chops and substituted cut up sweet potatoes instead of onions and it was delicious! Easy & impressive with hardly any clean up. Great recipe, thanks!

I tried this recipe, nice and easy. I liked it, the pork chops turned out very tender (which is a first for me) and the barbecue sauce gave them a nice finishing flavor, thank you!

A nice and easy recipe for a stay at home dad. It was very tender and everyone loved it. Thanks!

I just made your chops and they were deeeeelicious ! and super duper easy...thanks!

I tried this recipe because I wanted to try something different with pork chops. They turned out great! They were tender and so full of flavor. My family loved it, even my 12 yr old son who claims he doesn't like pork chops.

This is a very easy, very YUMMY recipe! I am not that good of a cook, but this has now become a favorite to make! Beside salt and pepper, I used some meat spices to spruce it up and it was great! They were very tender and full of flavor!

This is the only good memory I have of my grandmother. This recipe must be the way she cooked her pork chops. We loved them as kids.
:
Oh my, this was really east and really really good, i used regular BBQ sauce, but it was still DELICIOUS!!!!!

I made this recipe & my husband who is picky, picky, said for me to always make his Pork Chops like this!

So simple and everyone loves them!

Turned out great! Even my pickie 10 & 11 years old scarfed it up! Thanks!

I made 1 without the BBQ due to food allergies, and that was gobbled up quickly too!

This is a very easy recipe. It turned out great. Thanks.

OMG I just looked up a recipe for pork chops and came across this one. Never heard of it and it was great!! Just finished eating it.

These chops turned out wonderful. I couldn't believe the flavor and how tender they were. I will be making these again.

Did people who made this cover the pork chops entirely with water? Also did you drain the water before putting the sauce on?

These pork chops were AWESOME!!! I made them for dinner tonight, and couldn't believe how easy it was to make for such a delicious meal! This will be my new "go to" recipe for pork chops from now on!

This recipe was easy and very tasteful. My husband and I truly enjoyed this dish! I believe he has a new favorite.

when you pour the sauce over the chops. would you have to drain the water first or just leave it in there?

Very good recipe...it was simply quick and delicious...i love to cook and when i can whip up sumthin fast and delicious its always a plus.

I made these with pork loin chops. They came out tough as a shoe. Not sure what I did wrong, but I won't be making these again.

Jim (Colorado) says:
My modified recipe:
Easy Baked BBQ Pork Chops (Diane Yarbrough, Cooks.com)
pork chops
one large onion, thickly sliced
salt
pepper
chili powder
Masterpiece barbecue sauce
white wine (optional)
water
Season chops with salt, pepper, and chili powder and set aside.
Place a layer of onion rounds in the bottom of a baking pan and cover with white wine. Arrange chops on top of the onion, then layer a few onion rounds on top of the chops. Add water just to the top of the chops. Cover with foil and bake at 400°F for 1 hour. Using the foil as a liner, remove chops to a broiler-proof pan and set oven on broil. Pour barbecue sauce over chops evenly, turning to generously cover both sides. Return to oven and broil for 2-3 minutes per side, until barbecue sauce is nicely carmelized on each side.

Note: If desired, the baked onions may be incorporated into another dish, such as baked beans or German potato salad.

I just made this recipe and added parsley, cayenne pepper, and garlic salt. It came out a bit spicy, but if you're a spicy food eater, this is a variation that you might want to try.

Thanks. I use this recipe all the time, it's awesome!!! :)

I tried the recipe the other day and it came out great! I never had a pork chop so tender. The only thing different I would do is put the bbq sauce on earlier.

After you cook the chops for almost an hour and remove them from the oven, do you remove them to another pan to pour on the bbq sauce?

Delicious! Easy and tender, the water makes all the difference....thanks!

I just made my pork chop following the recipe. Oh so tender and full of favor. I know my husband go to love it. Thanks alot. I never put my pork chop in water and they come out dry. I will be going this for now on.

Just made this recipe for some friends tonight and super impressed them with tender, delicious pork chops. Thank you so much...I will definitely be using this recipe again in the future!!

I made this recipe tonight for supper and it turned out great! The pork chops were very tender and so delicious! Everyone loved them! This is how I will make my pork chops from now on!

I just made this recipe, exactly as stated. There was an awful lot of water in the pan though, after baking the pork chops for almost an hour. I dumped most all of the water out before putting the BBQ sauce on and then put the port chops back in the oven and baked for an additional 30 or so minutes. I gotta say they were absolutely delicious! This recipe is most definitely a keeper and WILL BE the recipe I use from now on. They were tender, flavorful and very easy to make. Next time I make them, I may add more spices, such as garlic powder any/or whatever else I feel in the mood for at the time. But all in all, they WERE wonderful! I loved them! Thank you very very much Diane for sharing the recipe.

Just made this recipe , was a big hit with my husband and 3 year old son, will sooo make it again. Maybe next time instead of water I will use some beer ...

Used beer instead of water and added tsp of smoke flavor and 1/2 tbs of dry garlic. Absolutely wonderful!!! Made it to impress a guy. He loved it.

Just tried your recipe generally I pan fry saute or grill pork chops but my mother wanted me to bake them. I am in culinary school so I know a little about how food is meant to look and taste and I just have to say you did a wonderful job. These turned out really great.

I tried this recipe. Unfortunately I did not add the barbeque sauce, because the pork chops were good with just the black pepper, salt and onions. Maybe next time!

I was looking for something easy and delicious to make for my husband and I and this was most definitely the best choice. The pork chops where so tender and so flavorful. I did however modify the recipe a bit. I seasoned them with seasoning salt, garlic power, and pepper. I also half water and half beer. Everything else was the same. Hands down the easiest and best BBQ pork chops we have ever had.

I tried this recipe because I wanted to do something new and it happened to use ingredients I had on hand. I didn't have any tin foil on hand so I cooked my chops uncovered. I did transfer the chops to a new pan before coating in the bbq sauce, and I broiled for about four minutes on each side. For myself, I wasn't super impressed. They were good but didn't come out quite as tender as I expected - that may have been because of a lack of tinfoil though. But my brothers, who are incredibly picky, loved them and wanted more when they were all gone. I give this recipe five stars for that alone : )

The only way I will ever bake pork chops from now on. They were very tender and delicious.

I made this recipe and it turned out fabulous.. I didnt have any onions so I substituted for onion powder.. I drained a little of the water 10 minutes before adding the bbq sauce. Pork Chops were so good that my husband went for seconds!! Easy Recipe.. will make again!

Had this for dinner. It was delicious. We baked it covered at 450°F for one hour.

I didn't have any onion on hand so used onion powder and garlic powder along with the salt and pepper, and they are the most amazing pork chops I've ever eaten. They dried out too much the first time I made them with the bbq sauce, and honestly the bbq wasn't even needed and, to me, detracted from the flavor. We rarely eat pork, but I'm making them again tonight only a week later!

To everyone wondering... yes, cover them while cooking. Drain water before adding bbq sauce then finish cooking uncovered... delicious. Can also substitute boneless country style pork ribs... yummy!

No left overs, enough said. Haha no joke though, this recipe is amazing. I'm visiting my parents for the week and decided to make them dinner for a surprise when they got home. It was gone so fast it was unbelievable. ah-maz-ing.

I made this tonight for my family & it was very good. My suggestion would be not to add an entire inch of water, I had to drain some of the water away. I covered it with foil then removed the foil when it was time to add the BBQ sauce. I then put it back in for 5-6 minutes then put on broil for 2 minutes. Everyone's oven is different. They came out very tender & juicy. My son loved the onions.

I am a single mom of 5 kids. Wonderful recipe, and the kids loved it!! It was so amazing and easy for me.

Tried this recipe and added bell pepper and a little diced jalapeno and it turned out great and real tender! Thanks Diane!

I made this recipe and the kids loved it. I will make this one again for sure. Thanks Ms. Yarbrough

Just made this...lots of great reviews..I must have done something wrong! Mine were tough as leather...oh well, I'll try again. I covered with foil. Directions didn't say that but some of the reviewers did.

Easy to make for someone that can barely boil water! Fantastic!

I just made this and was a little unsure of the original recipe as to whether or not to cover the chops with water completely or not (I didn't). Also whether or not boneless chops (mine boneless). I followed Jim's advice and cooked covered for an hour at 400°F then broiled with BBQ sauce 2-3 minutes each side. They came out pretty good but probably a bit over cooked. Next time would not cook for a full hour before broiling.. Maybe 45-50 mins. Overall pretty yummy though!

That was awesome and simple. Thanks for the recipe! Will be using this one again!!! Yumsy!

So yummy! Its my go to for my small family of 3. And the boys love it! I added just a lil seasoning salt for flavor and it came out great! Try with mac n cheese, baked beans and cornbread for a nice meal!

Awesome!!!

Very, very good! Nice and tender.. I seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and season salt. Delish!

This was fantastic...not only was it easy to prepare but the pork chops were so juicy and had a nice crispy texture on the outside. Will definitely make this again! Thanks!

WOW! This taste sooo good and is easy to make. AMAZING! Thank you

Very good recipe! I skipped the onion and went with the minced onion seasoning in the water. I also added cajun seasoning and garlic powder, as well as A1 Chicken and Pork Sauce to the water. This is a wonder and very flexible recipe. With thinner cut pork chops, the cooking time does not need to be the whole hour.

I luv pork, especially chops. It's only my husband and myself to cook for. I followed the recipe with beer , chicken stock, onions, and added additional seasonings. It was delicious. Next time I will make a thicker sauce out of the brew. Yummiest and tender.

I made them just like you said, mine did come out a little tough but that's probably because I didn't cover them (couldn't find the cover to my pan) other then that they tasted great lots of flavor!

I cannot cook at all. Tried this recipe and loved it. Very easy to cook. Chops were very tender.

Best chops ever outstanding recipe. Feel free to modify. Works great with beer and apple juice.

I tried it last night on Valentine's Day! I did switch the onions for sweet potatoes, and put in a bottle of Yuengling mixed with the water. The pork was AMAZING. I used two different cuts of pork chops and the bone in was the best! Super easy and you only have one pan to clean! Will definitely do it again!

I tried your recipe tonight. I made it the way you said, and it was so tender, it fell apart! Easy and very tasty! Thank you for sharing! You get a big thumbs up and 5 stars from me!

This was a very good meal! It was very tender and juicy, will totally use this in the future.

Just to add, when I went to add the bbq sauce I drained out most of the water but left enough to cover the bottom a bit and never covered it at all. Great great meal!!!

I loved this recipe came out perfect. I just made it for dinner tonight!!!

This recipe is awesome! My family loved it! Thanks for sharing.

Fist time ever having bbq cooked in the oven. I was surprised that it turned out so good and the meat was so tender. Had to pour some of the liquid out, that's because i like to taste bbq sause and not watered down bbq sauce. Thank you for something new.

Overall it was ok. I've done chops in the oven before, but never with water, and they taste the same. They just weren't as tender as everone bragged about, but then again my chops may have been too thin.

I also lined my pan with foil for easier clean up...glad I did!

Always use this recipe! LOVE IT - it's my favorite!

Just made this and used Jack Daniels Smoked Honey BBQ Sauce. The whole house loved it!!!!

Made this last night. Had boneless pork center loin chops that were thin. Cooked at 450°F covered for about 40 minutes then drained all water. Added BBQ sauce on both sides of chops then cooked for another 10 minutes without cover. These came our super delicious and my husband loved them. Thanks for the recipe Diane and for everyones comments :)

The chops came out GREAT!!!

Absolutely delicious!

We loved it!! The pork chops were nice and tender! Will be repeating it is so easy
