Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (or turkey or veal)
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 8-oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 14.5-oz can tomatoes, drained and chopped

Step 1

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef, onion, and green pepper. Cook until the meat is browned, drain liquid. Stir in remaining ingredients, reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Or use a crockpot and let it cook all day.
