Ingredients
- 4 lbs. boneless beef chuck
- 3 =4 cups water
- 1 onion stuck with 2 whole cloves
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. worcestershire

Preparation
Step 1
Place meat, water, onion, and bay leaves in pot. Simmer covered, until tender. (About 3 hours)
Remove meat and reserve 1 cup of beef broth. Discard onion & bay leaves. Cool and shred meat; set aside.
In pot melt butter. Add onion; saute until tender. Stir in sugar, salt, mustard, ketchup, vinegar, worchestershire, and broth. Add beef, mix gently. Simmer, covered for 30 minutes. Serve on buns.
