Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Pillsbury white cake mix
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 C buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 Tbls cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1 oz bottle RED food coloring

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 9" round cake pans.

In a mixing bowl combine the cake mix, cocoa and baking soda, stir to blend.

Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla mix until blended.

SLOWLY pour in the red food coloring and mix until its blended, then beat on high speed for 2 minutes.

Pour into prepared pans then bake 30 - 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to cool completely on a cake rack.

Best with a cream cheese frosting. Keep in a cool place or in fridge..
