Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 Tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp caraway seeds
- 3 Tbsp shortening
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 1/3 cup golden raisins
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp melted butter

Step 1
Blend flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, 3 Tbsp sugar and caraway seeds. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until well blended. Mix in raisins.
Add buttermilk all at once. Mix to a soft dough.
Pour dough into greased 8" cake pan and spread evenly. Cut a cross in top about 2/3 through the loaf. Brush top with melted butter. Sprinkle with remaining 2 Tbsp sugar.
Bake at 350 for about 35 minutes until light brown.
