Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups Flour plus more for rolling
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1-2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 c. Butter – real
  • 1 2/3 cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sour Cream

Step 1

1.Combine dry ingredients in a small bowl or measuring cup
2.Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy
3.Add eggs and beat well
4.Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with sour cream
5.Dough will be sticky
6.Place in bowl and cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight
7.Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray cookie sheet with cooking spray
8.Knead dough a little at a time, with a flour just until dough is not sticky
9.Roll out on a floured surface about 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick - we like them almost 1/4 inch
10.Cut with cookie cutters and place on prepared cookie sheet
11.Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes - turn pan and continue for 3-4 minutes more, just until cookie is done to the touch and lightly brown
12.Cool completely and frost
