Ingredients

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1-1/4 cups warm water or apple juice
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 apple - peeled, cored, and chopped into small bits
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2-2/3 cups all-purpose flour

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a medium bowl, add the yeast and water. Stir mixture until the yeast is dissolved.
 
2. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, apple, oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well.
 
3. Mix in the remaining 2/3 cup of flour.
 
4. Cover bowl with clean kitchen towel or with plastic wrap. Let the batter rise in a warm, draft free place for 30 minutes.
 
5. Stir down the batter.
 
6. Scrape batter into a greased bread pan, 9x5x3 inches. Cover the bread pan and let the batter rise in a warm, draft free place for another 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
 

7. Bake the loaf at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on.
 
8. Remove the loaf from pan and let cool on a bread rack.
