Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package extra-wide hearty egg noodles Mueller's
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag frozen chopped onions, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (29-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1 teaspoon Italia seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Garnih: shredded Parmesan

Preparation

Step 1

1. Prepare pasta according to package directions. Keep warm.

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Add onion, and cook, stirring often, for 5 to 6 minutes or until softened. Add garlic; cook 1 minutes, or until softened. Add beef, and cook until browned and crumbly. Drain well, and return to skillet.

3. Stir in tomato sauce, wine, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 to 45 minutes, or until thickened.

4. Serve over noodles. Garnish with shredded Parmesan, if desired.
