Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs pork shoulder
  • 15 oz green taco sauce OR tomatillo salsa verde
  • 1/2 sweet onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp prepared minced garlic
  • 1 TBS chili powder
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup water

Step 1

Spray inside of large crock pot with cooking spray. Cut roast into large pieces (leave bone if applicable). Place pieces in crock pot. Add onion slices.

In medium mixing bowl, stir together green sauce, garlic, chili powder, oregano, cumin, salt, and water.

Pour liquid over meat, stirring to coat all pieces. Cover crock pot and cook on low 8-10 hours (or longer if needed). 6-8 hours on high.

Line large rimmed baking sheet with foil. Transfer meat from the crock pot to the baking sheet and shred. Discard any fat pieces. Reserve 1/2 cup cooking liquid.

Optional: Preheat oven to 275 degrees. In medium mixing bowl, mix reserved cooking liquid and 1/2 cup milk. Pour over shredded meat. Bake 30-45 minutes until browned.
