Ingredients

  • 2 c. bread crumbs
  • 3/4 c. milk or water
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 2 Tblsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 Tblsp. light brown sugar
  • 2 lbs. ground beef

Step 1

Place bread cubes, milk or water, and onion soup mix in large mixing bowl. Stir to combine. Add eggs, 1/2 cup of the ketchup, and mustard and brown sugar; stir well. Using your fingers, break apart ground beef and distribute in mixing bowl. Work meat into bread mixture until just combined; don't overwork as it will toughen the meat. Transfer to 13x9 baking dish and shape into a loaf. Drizzle remaining 1/2 cup of ketchup over top of loaf. Bake at 350 for 55-60 minutes, top will be browned. Transfer to serving platter and let rest for at least 20 minutes before serving.
