Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef roast (I like Sirloin tip)
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • Pepper to tast
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup water

Step 1

1. In a skillet over high heat, brown meat in a small amount of oil on all sides. Sprinkle with pepper and place in a 6 quart Crock pot.

2. Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix on top, then add the cream of mushroom soup.

3. Add the water to the pan you browned the meat in and use a whisk to get up all the drippings. Pour over the top of everything in the crock pot.

4. Cook on LOW for 8-10 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours. Serve with mashed potatoes.
Notes

-You can substitute beef broth for the water, but I find it's plenty flavorful without it.
