Ultimate California Grilled Cheese 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 2 slices California sourdough
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Napa Valley extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 slice Fiscalini San Joaquin Gold cheese
  • 1/4 ripe California Hass avocado, cut into 1/4-inch thick slices
  • 1 slice Bellwether Farms Carmody cheese
  • 1 slice Point Reyes Farmstead Toma cheese

Preparation

Step 1


1. Heat a cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium-low heat.

2. Brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil. Place one slice, oiled-side down, on a cutting board. Layer the San Joaquin Gold, avocado, Carmody and Toma on top. Top with second bread slice, oiled-side up.

3. Using a wide spatula, place the sandwich in the pan, cover and cook until the bottom is nicely browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Turn and cook until the second side is browned and the cheese is melted, about 2 minutes longer. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
