  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons flour
  • 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • CHOCOLATE FILLING
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 5 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 Tablespoons orange marmalade
  • GLAZE AND GARNISH
  • 3 Tablespoon butter
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate

Preparation

Step 1

in a bowl beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy
in another bowl combine flour, cornstarch and baking powder
sift into egg mixture, stir to blend
line a 9 inch round baking pan with greased wax paper
do not grease sides of pan
pour batter into pan
bake at 375* for about 30minutes
let cake cool in pan
Loosen around edges with a knife
carefully turn cake out onto rack
peel off paper
for filling beat together butter and sugar until creamy
add egg yolks, cocoa, and orange marmalade if used
stir until smooth
cut cake into three layers
for glaze melt butter and chocolate in a double boiler
spread mixture on top and sides of cake
