Ingredients
- 4 large baking potatoes
- 2/3 cup butter
- 2/3 cup all purpose flour
- 6 cups (1 1/2 quarts) sweet milk
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 4 green onions chopped, divided
- 12 slices bacon cooked, crumbled
- 1 1/4 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- 8 ounces (1 carton) sour cream

Preparation
Step 1
Wash and prick potatoes. Bake potatoes at 400 degrees F until well done (or cook in microwave). Let cool. Cut potatoes in half and scoop out pulp. Melt margarine or butter in a saucepan and add flour stirring until smooth. Cook one minute stirring constantly. Gradually add 6 cups milks and cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly. Add potato pulp, salt, pepper, 2 tablespoons green onion, 1/2 cup bacon and 1 cup cheese. Cook until thoroughly heated, then stir in sour cream. Add extra milk if desired for thickness. Serve hot with remaining bacon, onion and cheese.
