Cherry Cinnamon Cobbler

Ingredients
- Cherry Filling
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 tablespoons Red Cinnamon Candies
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 can (16-ounces) sour pie cherries can or frozen
- Cinnamon Rounds
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup pecans, toasted finely chopped
- 1/4 cup (2-ounces) shortening
- 1 large egg slightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon butter softened
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Lemon Glaze
- 1/2 cup (4-ounces) powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup red cinnamon candies
- 1 tablespoon tapioca quick cooking
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 can cinnamon rolls refrigerated

Cherry filling: In saucepan, combine sugar, cinnamon candies, cornstarch, water and cherry juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Stir in cherries. Pour into 8x8-inch baking dish.
Cinnamon rounds: Sift flour with baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Add 3 tablespoons brown sugar and pecans. Cut in shortening until particles are fine; Combine egg and milk. Add to flour mixture; mix until til all dry ingredients are moistened, adding a few drops more milk if necessary. Roll out on floured surface to a 14 x 12-inch rectangle. Brush with butter; Combine 3 tablespoons brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over dough. Roll, starting with 12-inch side. Slice into 3/3-inch slices. Place on cherry filling. Bake at 400 degree F. for 25 to 30 minutes. Glaze while warm. Serves 6 to 8.
This is the updated version from a years later Pillsbury Booklet:
Drain cherries, reserving juice. Combine sugar, candies, tapioca and reserved juice in saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, over low;owe heat until candies melt and mixture is thick and clear. Stir in the butter and cherries. Pour into 10 x 6 x 1 1/2-inch baking dish. Top hot cherries with the rolls. Bake at 350-375 degrees F (moderate oven) about 20 minutes. Remove from oven and drizzle with the icing that comes with the rolls.
Serve warm. Serves 8.
