Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups (2 and 1/2 sticks; 10-ounces)butter softened
- 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large whole egg
- 1 large whole egg yolk
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup baking cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Step 1
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, egg yolk and vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, cinnamon and salt; add to creamed mixture; and mix well.
Divide dough in half. On a lightly flour surface, roll each portion to 1/8-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 2-in. cookie cutter. Place 1 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 7-8 minutes or until set. Let cool for 5 minutes, remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Yield: 4 dozen.
