Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (4-ounces) solid Crisco shortening
- 1/2 cup (1 stick; 4-ounces) unsalted butter
- 2 cups (16-ounces) brown sugar packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sweetened coconut flakes
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In large bowl beat Crisco, butter and brown sugar until smooth; beat in eggs then str in buttermilk and vanilla; blend in flour until incorporated. Stir in coconut, nuts raisins and chocolate chips.
Drop by level half-tablespoon onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake 7-10 minutes or until cookies are light brown. Cool on rack. Keeps well in tightly covered container.
Yield 11 dozen.
