  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs beaten

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Sift dry ingredients together. Combine all ingredients in large bowl.
Mix thoroughly with electric mixer.
Pour into greased and floured 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Bake 30-40 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.
Serve topped with a lemon sauce or sweetened whipped cream.
