- 4 sticks (1-pound) butter softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6 large eggs
- 2 large egg whites
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups sifted cake flour, sifted again, then measure

Preparation: 15 minutes Bake: 1 hour 30 minutes
PREHEAT oven to 300°. Grease and flour a 9-inch Bundt Pan.
IN A LARGE MIXING BOWL, beat butter fat medium speed with an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
IN A MICROWAVE OVEN, heat sugar on HIGH (100 percent power) for 2 to 21/2 minutes. (Sugar should be warm to the touch.) Add sugar and salt to butter and beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
IN A SEPARATE BOWL, combine eggs and whites. Slowly add hot water and vanilla.
With mixer on low speed, add egg mixture to batter. Increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes. Gently fold in cake flour.
Transfer batter to prepared pan.
BAKE for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, or until cake is golden brown and a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes.
Invert cake onto a cooling rack and let cool completely.
