Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/3 cup shortening Crisco
- 1 cup (8-ounces) buttermilk
- unsalted butter melted

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
Combine the dry ingredients and shortening in food processor. Process until the mixture has the texture of coarse cornmeal. Add the buttermilk and process, using pulse motion, just until mixture is moistened. (This can be done by hand, using knives to cut in shortening.)Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly 3 or 4 times.
"Choke off" 10 small pieces of dough; roll and flatten each into a 1- inch-thick round. Brush each top with melted butter and bake until golden.
Heavy bottom or double pan.
