Brownie Shortbread

Ingredients
- 1 stick (4-ounces) unsalted butter room temperature
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Brownie Layer
- 1 stick (4-ounces) butter room temperature
- 3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate squares
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder fresh

Step 1
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 11x7 inch baking pan.
2. In food processor or with electric mixer, process or beat the butter, flour, sugar and salt until mixture holds together and forms a dough. Press over bottom of the pan.
3. Bake 20 minutes or until light golden and firm when touched. (Watch closely to not over cook.)
4. Brownie Layer: Heat butter and chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring often, until melted. Cool 5 minutes.
5. In a medium-size bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, flour and baking powder until blended. Whisk in cooled chocolate mixture. Pour over shortbread base.
6. Bake 20 minutes or until top feels firm. (Watch closely to not overcook.)
7. Cool in pan before cutting in bars.
Makes 24 bars.
