Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup corn meal(plain, all-purpose)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder fresh
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 cup (8-ounces) milk
  • 1 pound frankfurters
  • craft sticks optional

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all the dry ingredients together; add milk and egg. Beat with mixer until smooth.
Preheat deep fat to 350 degrees F.
Cook frankfurters in saucepan, covered with water until done.
Dry cooked frankfurters so batter will adhere better.
Dip frankfurter (on craft sticks) in batter until covered completely;.
Drop in the hot oil and cook until brown, turn over to brown all.
Remove and drain on paper towel.
Serve with hot mustard.

Yield: 10-12 servings.
