  • 1 cup dried apricots, thinly sliced
  • 1 whole lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 orange, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 5 cups chopped, cored, peeled pears
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Dash cloves

Step 1

Prepare home canning jars and lids according to manufacturer's instructions.

Combine apricots, lemon, orange and water in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil; simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes. Add pears, sugar and spices; cook until sugar dissolves and mixture boils, stirring occasionally. Boil gently for 20minutes. Carefully ladle hot conserve into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Adjust caps.

Process 10 minutes in a boiling-water canner.

Yield: approx three 12-ounce jars
