Ingredients
- Coffee Cake:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or shortening
- Dash of salt
- 1 cup strong coffee
- 2 and 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 eggs
- Beat the eggs and coffee together and add to other ingredients. Bake in 2 layers.
- Frosting:
- 1 cup XXX sugar (confectioner's)
- 1 small piece butter
- Strong coffee, enough to moisten
- Mix sugar and butter; moisten with strong coffee; beat together and spread between layers and on top of cooled cake.
