Ingredients
- 1 9 inch baked pie shell
- 1 quart fresh strawberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- Red food coloring

Step 1
Wash and hull strawberries. Reserve the choicest berries ( a little over half). Maybe 2 cups berries. Mash and strain the rest of berries until juice is extracted. If necessary add a little water to make 1 1/2 cups juice. Bring juice to a boil and gradually stir in mixture of 1 cup sugar and 3 tbsp. To make a pretty red, add red food coloring with a drop of yellow. Boil mixture for 1 minute-cool-pour over berries arranged in pie shell. Cover with whipped cream or dream whip and chill at least 2 hours before serving.
