Chocolate Town Special Cake

Ingredients

• 1 3/4 cup sugar
• 2/3 cup shortening
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 1/2 cup flour
• 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 cup cocoa
• 1/2 cup boiling water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well, add vanilla. Add flour, soda, and salt alternately with buttermilk. Make heavy, smooth paste of cocoa and boiling water. Cool slightly, add, and blend well. Bake about 35 minutes.
