Ingredients
- Shrimp and grits
- 1 pound of peeled and deveined, medium
- Shrimp
- 1 onion, chopped.
- 1/2 stick of butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Four servings of grits, cooked in milk, instead of water. Add more milk after cooking, to make grits pourable
- 4 slices of country ham

Preparation
Step 1
Fry ham until brown. Melt butter in ham drippings, add onions and cook until they are transparent. Add a little flour, to thicken into a sauce. Add shrimp and cook until pink. Add a little milk or chicken broth if sauce gets too thick. Salt and pepper or Old Bay, to taste.
Place a slice of ham on a dinner plate, top with grits, finish off with shrimp and sauce.
Best served with black eyed peas, turnip greens and sweet corn bread.
This is a low country recipe I learned about, while visiting Charleston.
