  • 1 (20-oz) can apple pie filling
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 TB apple pie spice powder
  • 1/4 tsp powdered cloves
  • 1 (18-oz) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Step 1

Put the apple pie filling into your blender with the eggs and both spices & blend till almost smooth using on/off speed on "HI".

Dump this into a 2-qt mixing bowl & beat in cake mix powder with electric mixer on medium speed, blending thoroughly. Remove beaters. Stir in raisins & nuts. Pour evenly into greased & floured 9x13x2" pan.

Bake at 325F— for 50 to 55 mins or till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack in pan for 30 minutes before applying frosting.

BAR CAKE FROSTING:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 lb (1 stick) margarine
1/3 cup dark corn syrup
1 TB bottled grated orange peel
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 tsp powdered cloves

Beat cream cheese & margarine together til smooth & creamy. Add corn syrup & continue to beat till incorporated. Beat in orange peel. Add powdered sugar & cloves.

Spread icing over cold cake. Cut the cake into 4 equal pieces. Wrap & freeze what you won't be using within a week. Cut remaining portions into serving size pieces.
