Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp meat tenderizer
  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 1/2 lb mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup butter/margarine, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Bring first 3 ingredients to a boil in a large saucepan. Add teh wild reice gradually so that the boiling will not stop. Boil rapidly in a loosley covered saucepan for 30-40 minutes or until rice is tender.
While rice is cooking, clean and slice the mushrooms and chop the onion. Heat 1/4 cup butter in a skillet and add mushrooms and onion. Cook slowly over medium heat until mushrooms are lightly browned. Remove from heat. Combine the mushrooms, onions and rice.
Toss gently until mushrooms are evely distributed throughout the rice.
